SEO, Search Engine Optimization, is a very mysterious marketing effort. Many people don’t even know that you can actively increase your rankings on Search Engines.

But why would they tell you how to increase your website’s organic, or free, rankings. They would rather tell you how to pay for Google Ad words so they can make more money, right?

Well, ranking on google isn’t extremely complex, but it is extremely tedious. Organic Rankings are free, but they require a ton of time. So if you’re someone with more time than money, you can try to implement some simple SEO strategies laid out in this guide.

4 Steps to Rank Your Site

  1. Write great content
  2. Optimize the content (Tittles, Tags, Descriptions)
  3. Provide an amazing User Experience
  4. Promote your Content (Link-building, Social Sharing)

If you can focus on those four seo best practices, your content will rise naturally in the organic search results.

Write Great Content

Start by identifying what you want to write about. Do a search on google to see which articles show up first for the keyword you would like to rank for.

Analyze those articles and ask yourself: Can I make content more valuable than this? If not, then it’ll be hard, but not impossible, to rank first.

Once you find the topic that you feel you can write better content in start writing with one thing in mind, the end user.

On-page Optimization

On page optimization is a bit technical, but it is definetly required if you want to rank a website. Take the time to learn how to optimize a page and don’t move on until your On-page optimization is on point.

User Experience

After You’ve released your content take another look at your website. Is it mobile responsive? Does it look good? You want to provide a great user experience because people will stay on your website longer if you do. The time spent on your site is a key ranking factor, so try to maximize it.

Promote Your Content

Once you have established the first three items, Great Content, On-page Optimization, and UX, focus on promoting your content to speed the process up.

To promote your content you can start by sharing your content on your Social Media Profiles.

Once you’ve shared your content on social profiles and forums, move on to link building. Reach out to bloggers in your niche and mention your new blog post.

Another way to build links effectively is to analyze your competitors Link Profile and try to grab similar links.

At the end of the day, you want to spend 50% of your time writing great content and the other 50% promoting the content.

SEO takes time, but it’s definitely worth it!
